NEW PAPER REGALIA WORK FOR UPCOMING FALL EXHIBITION AT CENTRAL ART GARAGE

Sneak peek at Ace’s work-in-progress for Material Matters – Materiality of Anishinaabeg-biimadiziwin (Anishinaabeg culture) at Central Art Garage.

Ace is currently working on new paper regalia works for his upcoming September 2021 exhibition at Central Art Garage (CAG) curated by Danny Hussey and Bridget Thompson. The exhibition will feature new Anishinaabe inspired paper regalia works and a large-scale beaded wall panel work that will be mounted to the external wall of CAG and revealed at the time of opening.

Here is a rare glimpse inside Ace’s home studio, as he works on his new mixed media Jingle Dress. From conceptual drawing; to paper construction; to formation of jingles secured to the work with wire; to intricate electronic component floral decoration on all accessories that include yoke, cuffs, belt, leggings and moccasins, Ace reveals the attention-to-detail accorded to this new work in his signature style.

Stay tuned for further updates.
