Central Art Garage (Ottawa) has Ace’s latest paper works drawing inspiration from Anishinaabe buckskin jackets and gauntlets. These unique paper works resemble smoke tanned animal hide but are actually made from Nepalese handmade lokta paper and are embellished with Ace’s signature electronic component floral motifs that reference Anishinaabe Great Lake’s beadwork. These works are richly framed in hand-crafted custom walnut frames by Danny Hussey.
These works thematically compliment Ace’s work that is currently featured in the on-line exhibition Art of Indigenous Fibers curated by Amber-Dawn Bear Robe for the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Ace’s upcoming exhibition in June 2021 at Central Art Garage will feature new paper works inspired by Anishinaabe dance regalia. For more information on this upcoming exhibition (here).
