Ace’s Covid-19 Suite has been acquired for the permanent collection of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

The Covid-19 Suite is a body of work consisting of 19 mixed media works on paper produced during the coronavirus pandemic and global lockdown that commenced in Canada on March 15, 2020. This suite is autobiographical and informed by the pandemic’s impact and personal reflections on the history of similar impacts of global pandemics that his family and other Indigenous peoples have lived through in the recent and distant past. The works are a testament to our individual and collective perseverance, tenacity and survival throughout history, and how we have sought new and innovative ways though science, medicine, technology, protest and faith to monitor, manage, troubleshoot and repair dysfunctions and aberrations that occur in our global and interconnected communities.

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is the largest publicly funded art gallery in Canada that focuses exclusively on Canadian and Indigenous art, both historical and contemporary. The permanent collection consists of over 6,500 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and contemporary artists who have contributed to the development of the art of Canada.
