Robert Kardosh Gallery, formerly Marion Scott Gallery (Vancouver, British Columbia) presents the exhibition Bead Work (December 4, 2025 – January 17, 2026).
Preview Reception: Wednesday, December 3, 6-8 PM
Our final exhibition of 2025 will spotlight the practices of 7 Indigenous artists whose contemporary expressions incorporate beads and beadwork within a diverse range of media. Drawing on a variety of artistic and cultural traditions, Bead Work will consider some of the different ways in which beads and beading are employed by artists to express important messages about history, the impact of colonialism, Indigenous values of resilience and community, and intergenerational connection.
The exhibition will feature works by Barry Ace, Ruth Cuthand, Lindsay McIntyre, Elizabeth Nutaaraaluk, Avis Simeon, Eva Talooki Aliktiluk and Jut-ke-Nay Hazel Wilson. Included are works on paper, sculptures, fabric wallhangings, wearable art, film and still photography.
Ace’s work included:
Mnemonic Code (2020)
Flux (2017)
Manidoominens (Beaded) Landscape (2014)
