THE ROM BALL, JUNE 14, 2017

From the ROM: In the Spring of 2017, The Royal Ontario Museum joined by notable Canadians and national icons to raise money in support of the Museum. The ROM Ball, the preeminent red carpet cultural gala in Ontario and included an impressive cocktail reception, majestic dinner in the Samual Hall Currelly Gallery. More than 500 supporters and corporate sponsors joined in for the ROM’s spectacular red carpet gala on May 6, 2017. The ROM Ball was a black-tie toast to our great nation and an unforgettable evening of culture and glamour in support of the Museum.

The ROM Ball featured collaborations with three acclaimed artists whose works are symbolic, meaningful and uniquely Canadian:

“Visual artist Barry Ace is known for creating objects and imagery inspired by multiple facets of Anishinaabe culture. These motifs adorned event elements at the ROM Ball. In addition, his selected works are included in one of ROM’s Canada 150 exhibitions: Anishnaabeg Art & Power.”

Fine art photographer Edward Burtynsky’s sweeping images of Canadian landscapes transformed the inside of the ROM’s Michael Lee-Chin Crystal building, creating an immersive experience.

The ROM Ball after party featured an explosion of Charles Pachter’s lively art. One of Canada’s leading contemporary artists, Pachter’s images of The Queen, moose and the maple leaf flag have become national and international paradigms of modern Canadian art.
